How many times did I end up this way How many times I would have chosen another game Just let me play With my own rules I don’t want to feel betrayed I don’t want to lose Almost every time I feel I got some cards unused Almost every time I shred, throw them without proof Just show them up Do not be scared I don’t want to be blamed For walking out of this great race Crossroads from my past No matter who gets there last I have got all I need to win I want my carousel to spin Let me have another ride Crossroads from my past No need to pass through it in haste I have got all I need to spin I make my carousel win Let me have another ride Crossroads from my past No matter who gets there last I have got all I need to win I want my carousel to spin Let me have another ride Crossroads from my past No need to pass through it in haste I have got all I need to spin I make my carousel win Let me have another ride Let me have just another ride

We used to look at the stars And see the wonders of the skies We used to look further ahead Far beyond our own chance And now our heads are bowed down With our vitreous eyes that can’t reach our soul We forget and neglect That life is a race we didn’t expect May I have the force to regain my sight? I don’t want to be left in this world in blight Let me rip off this veil that’s smothering me All that I need is a sign that I’ll be free We used to look at the stars Imaging all the flares of all suns We are keen to find the sense of all things Guided by the crave to bear the missing ring May I have the force to regain my sight? I don’t want to be left in this world in blight Let me rip off this veil that’s smothering me All that I need is a sign that I’ll be free But we have too many strings to unravel A clew is just a ball in the shadows In this place we look for nature’s mistake We are passengers carried to the grave May I have the force to regain my sight? I don’t want to be left in this world in blight Let me rip off this veil that’s smothering me All that I need is a sign that I’ll be free

The road was rough and the reins were loose but these hushed silences erased the goal blind uproar will merge us as a whole No need to run if it's towards a noose Approaching steps, don't know how far they are Following a path, doesn't have any regard In the distance, the sound of freedom we seek Obsessed, derailed, nowhere to go, nothing to be A compass that signs no route We are vague pictures that navigate with no clue We travel standing still through the impervious blur That's how you erased our future We count tree rings with greedy fingers And carelessly dig the barren ground But we can't quench our thirst with cinders of our parents' dream, unsound by now we filled our cups with bitter tears we closed our fists, until we felt the skin it’s not that easy to mourn the unknown but that’s the only choice if you’re left alone A compass that signs no route We are vague pictures that navigate with no clue We travel standing still through the impervious blur That's how you erased our future Falling heavily breaks your bones But having never gotten up, hurts more Feel the rough carpet scratching your cheeks This is the burden of those who still seek A compass that signs no route We are vague pictures that navigate with no clue We travel standing still through the impervious blur That's how you erased our future

A blade stuck in my heart I didn’t expect it was so hard as if it was yesterday Shattered glass on the stairs Let me be there For your comfort If only you were here I wouldn’t wear myself to remember if only you were here We could write new stories together If only you were here I would let my worries go If only you were here I could ride new journeys with you It is a long way but I spot the first ray From now on everything I do Will be for you If only you were here I wouldn’t wear myself to remember if only you were here We could write new stories together If only you were here I would let my worries go If only you were here I could ride new journeys with you If only you were here I wouldn’t wear myself to remember if only you were here We could write new stories together If only you were here I would let my worries go If only you were here I could ride new journeys with you

At last here I am, with wide open eyes wandering through the night Let me show you how I hear the swollen ticking of time Seconds, minutes and hours Equal each other in value In the infinite gaps of silence I see the puzzle of all time lapses I sense my journey is ending here Looking for worthless cures that heal My body, my grief, my pain Equal each other so they are the same I writhe in spasms believing that speed gives me some relief But I’ve just shown you I am static, all you can hear is a choked scream Seconds, minutes and hours Negate each other in value In the infinite gaps of silence I’ll solve the puzzle of all time lapses I sense my journey is ending here All the cures I found make me bleed My body, my grief, my pain Negate each other and fade away I fall asleep at the dawn of the day And all the worries are just gone away My weary bones have a rest at last Until I hear the swollen ticking of time’s wrath

about

“We Used to look at the Stars” is Ometra’s second release.
As mentioned in the credits, this album is a spark born during some rough and dark times.
All the songs have been written in a very difficult and hard period: the pandemic, the lockdown, the need to reinvent ourselves, the fear of change and the inability of raising our heads and look beyond our line of sight.
This is a hymn about reacting to adversity, accepting one's problems and transforming them into positive energy.
This is an invitation to fantasise, create and live one's life in the best possible way.
